Real Madrid, Ferland Mendy getting close to agreement on contract extension — report

Real Madrid and Ferland Mendy have accelerated talks on a new deal for the French full-back, with the deal ‘being close to a reality’, according to a report from MARCA.

Mendy, whose current deal expires in 2025, was notified by the higher-ups at Real Madrid a few weeks ago that the club wants to renew his contract, which was well-received by the Frenchman. Everyone is convinced that a deal will be finalised in the coming days, which is good news for everyone involved.

Mendy has had a stellar 2023-24 season after being plagued with injuries for a significant portion of his Real Madrid career. He regained full fitness and form and, within a few games, became the undisputed starter for Carlo Ancelotti at left-back — someone who has always wanted him to stay at the club.

Mendy does have offers from other clubs, including lucrative deals from Saudi Arabia, but Real Madrid want him to stay. Mendy wants to stay as well, and it looks like that is what will end up happening.
