After defeating Athletic Club in the league last weekend to stay on top of the table, Real Madrid are back for the 2nd leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
In the first leg of the round 2, Las Blancas defeated Sporting in a dramatic match at their home, ultimately ending 1-2 for the white club. The game had two late goals, one in each half, and a penalty given away to Sporting. Real Madrid’s formation kept changing throughout the match and the press faded away as the changes came in the second half. The Portuguese team had done their press brilliantly against Las Blancas, the given penalty being the proof of it. Brittany as the face of their attack is expected to give more headaches to the white club on Di Stefano.
Linda Caicedo had already returned to the squad but hasn’t yet played a single minute this season after returning from the U-20 World Cup. She’s expected to make an official comeback in this Champions League game. Antonia Silva was seen training on grass in the latest training video but hasn’t yet joined the group training. Her expected return is in around 2 weeks.
The second leg is played in Madrid, on Alfredo Di Stefano. The kick-off is on Thursday, September 26th at 20:00 CEST. the broadcast will be available on Real Madrid Play/Real Madrid TV.
