OFFICIAL: Athenea del Castillo renews with Real Madrid Femenino

Athenea del Castillo signed a 4-year contract renewal with Real Madrid which bounds her to the white club until June 30th 2028.

Athenea arrived at the club in the summer of 2021, receiving a 3-year contract which was about to expire in June of 2024. She becomes the first renewed player of the 2024/25 season and the first player to receive a 4-year contract in the history of the women’s section of Real Madrid.

The Cantabrian winger has become an undisputed starter under Alberto Toril appeared in 124 matches, scoring 25 goals and 20 assists for the royal club. The 23-year-old is a current World Cup and UEFA Women’s Nations League champion with Spain, becoming the highest goal scorer for Spain in the first ever edition of UEFA Women’s Nations League.

“I want to win things with this shirt, like all the trophies we have here behind us. For me, I am in the best club in the world and there is nothing more than being able to be in Real Madrid,” said Athenea in the trophy room where the men’s Champions League trophies were displayed. “Real Madrid is my first choice, it always has been and always will be.”
