Didier Deschamps has named Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni from Real Madrid in his 23-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures. France will face Israel on October 10 in Budapest, followed by a clash with Belgium on October 14 in Brussels.
However, the headline is the absence of Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid’s star forward, who has not been included to avoid potential injury risks. Deschamps explained in a press conference that after speaking with Mbappé, it was decided that the French captain should take extra precautions. The 25-year-old recently returned to action for Real Madrid in a match against Lille, after missing the derby against Atlético Madrid due to muscle discomfort. Deschamps emphasized that although Mbappé’s issue is not serious, it requires careful management to prevent aggravation, especially considering the packed schedule ahead.
This is a welcome development for Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who now has the opportunity to give Mbappé additional rest during the international break, minimizing the risk of a relapse.
Joining Mbappé on the list of absentees is Ferland Mendy, who was not called up by Deschamps this time around.
In contrast, Camavinga and Tchouaméni will both be heading off for national duty. Camavinga, who has recently recovered from an injury that sidelined him for a month and a half, will be looking to use this opportunity to gain valuable minutes and sharpen his form.
