Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is set to sign a four-year contract extension with Real Madrid, according to reports published in the Spanish press. The deal will be announced later this week, per those same reports.
Lunin’s previous deal was set to expire in the summer of 2025, so he could’ve received offers to leave Real Madrid. In fact, it appeared that he was keen on leaving the club, knowing that his playing time behind Thibaut Courtois was always going to be almost irrelevant unless the Belgian star suffered any kind of serious injury like the one he sustained a year ago.
Real Madrid could still receive some kind of interest for Lunin next summer, but the club would have leverage in the negotiations with the Ukrainian goalkeeper still under contract, so it will be interesting to see if Lunin decides to compete with Courtois in the foreseeable future.
