Welcome to The Daily Merengue — a place where you can feel free to discuss all things football. Do not be alarmed by the overt RMCF bias. It’s in the name!

Recap: Spain v. France
Vamos España. Powered by Lamine Yamal’s golazo (and likely goal of the tournament), Spain will head to the Euro finals. During the finals, a welcomed return of Dani Carvajal may lead this fun, exciting, and forward-thinking Spanish side past the English or Dutch.
No Bane. No Mbappe. So what does the French loss mean for Real Madrid? Well first, Kylian Mbappe had a poor tournament. He scored once from the penalty spot. He broke his nose. He looked at times sluggish and when moments appeared for him he was off the mark. The French side couldn’t find ways to put their immense attacking talent in scoring positions or create any type of exciting moments. And I’m oddly here to tell you that this is a good thing for Real Madrid. Kylian he will hear the boos and imo mistaken discredits of his career achievements. People will claim that he’s “washed” despite scoring 40+ goals this season. People will claim that Monaco Kylian was better. People may even point towards his attitude and Euro performance and question whether Real Madrid should be concerned. (Aside: To which I would also point to almost every Madrid player in NT tourneys besides Militao, Tchouameni, Cama, and Arda.) But let’s note that he didn’t shy away from his own Euro failures. His mentality is, he has failed but he will now rest and be as hungry as ever for his first season of Real Madrid. He will prove why he is the best player in football.
Camavinho. Tchouameni. Mendy. Tchouameni had a decent tournament so there isn’t much to say there. I also think Camavinga played overall well but he still can’t seem to escape Rabiot’s prolonged shadow on the French midfield. Hopefully, this will lead Cama to (fully adopt his adopted Brazilian heritage and leave the French National team lmaoooo) be as fresh and hungry as possible in the upcoming season where I expect some early tired legs from Jude / Fede. Mendy on the other hand played zero minutes and was simply there for vibes. Let’s solve his contract and keep it moving.
Kylian Mbappé: “In football you’re good or not good. I wasn’t good”.
“My Euro was a failure”.
“I wanted to be European champion… I will now go on holiday, I will rest well, it will do me a lot of good, then I will get ready to start a new life. There’s a lot to do”. pic.twitter.com/9QW45qMPtI

Brief Transfer News: Yoro (again)
Leny Yoro. Real quick because I know you’re tired of these little updates. Manchester Utd submitted a bid accepted by Lille. Man Utd fans have started creating Yoro comps. Old Trafford aka the Theatre of Dreams has aura again. Yoro still seems to be set on coming to Madrid but maybe Lille convinced him otherwise. We’ve all seen this story before. It’s cute.
Alaba. Not directly Yoro related, but concerns regarding Alaba’s 2024 health could lead towards Real Madrid advancing their pursuit for a CB. Alaba looked a bit off prior to his injury, so I am thoroughly concerned about his form going forward.
David Alaba’s injury is more serious than publicly communicated.
Throughout the EURO, the player had difficulty walking up the stairs with ‘uncertainty’ in every step he takes.
It’s unlikely he’ll return before 2025, reports @DiePressecom. pic.twitter.com/oW1LSZGSA3

The Game: England v. Netherlands (Euros Semifinals)
Alright…here we go again. You sure, you know what you’re doing Southgate? Jude? Saka? And what about you Depay? Werghorst? Codyyyyy?!
Who MM Should Root For? Pretty obviously England. The Golden Boy (ie Gouden Jongen), The Kid From Birmingham, Who Else, Jude BELLINGOL Bellingham is the central figure of this English team. A decent performance + win would all but secure the Balon D’Or for one of the best u23 / new transfer seasons by a Real Madrid player. It would also hopefully help kill these Jude PR posts / “maturing is when you realize (insert player) is better than Jude without the PR”. It’d be quite nice to say “Who Else” to the haters while reminding even MM that British Jude was worth every penny.
Who Juninho is Rooting For? The Dutch. No offense to Jude, but I can’t take another Southgate game. I just can’t. It’s potentially the worst version of Carloball x Black Magic. Honestly, that was offensive to Carloball. Now I’ll admit the Dutch aren’t much better with Koeman + this abysmal midfield, but I’d rather suffer these consequences than listen to English media and fans say “it’s coming home”. Also imo Jude looks exhausted. He could use an early vacation + surgery (!!!). I just want all my Real Madrid players to make it home safely.
Final Thoughts
“Don’t chase features or blue recs, little homie. Being moderator don’t bring power or respect, little homie. Give some dollars or cents to the followers and invest, little homie. Do you, don’t worry ‘bout the rest, little homie. Just be blessed, little homie. You don’t gotta crash out for the set, little homie. Keep your head on the swivel when you step, little homie. If them MMers catch you slippin’ it’s a wrap (bang bang)”
