Alvaro Rodriguez has suffered a “severe sprained ankle”, whereas Cesar Palacios has an ACL injury, and both will return to Madrid after Real Madrid’s friendly loss to Milan on Wednesday, Mario Cortegana of The Athletic reports.
Palacios came on for Luka Modric at the start of the second half but had to be substituted in the 52nd minute after a really bad injury scare. Alvaro Rodriguez came on for him, but he was also substituted in the 89th minute for Jeremy De Leon. Both Castilla stars will now return to Madrid for further tests.
With Palacios, he will undergo further testing in Madrid to find out whether he requires a surgery on his knee or not.
Palacios had a promising season for Castilla last time around, and he would have had a bigger role with more prominence under Raul this season due to potential departures during the summer and his own growth as a footballer.
It now remains to be seen when Palacios is able to make his return to regular football this season, but this surely is a gut punch, to say the least, for the Spanish midfielder.
