Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 189.86 points to 24229.2 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as CMI Ltd, GI Engineering, Eros Media, Varanium Cloud and Gensol Engg, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 33 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 17 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, RIL, BEL, Sun Pharma, Dr. Reddys and JSW Steel were among top gainers, while Shriram Finance, HCL Tech, Eternal, Bajaj Finance and Tata Consumer traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 678.83 points up at 79891.36 at 11:26AM(IST). Traders were seen piling up positions in General, IT Enabled Services, Services, Auto and Power sectors, while selling was visible in Learning & Education, Trading, Construction, Aquaculture and IT Software sectors.
