Recap Highlights, & Analysis: Real Madrid Femenino 0-1 Eibar; Liga F 2025

Real Madrid lost 0-1 against Eibar on matchday 15 of Liga F. Below are my thoughts and views on the match.

Mylene Chavas started on goal. Olga returned as the LB in the starting XI, with Antonia on RB. Lakrar and Rocío made up the CB duo. Teresa and Toletti were the pivot duo. With Linda and Eva Navarro on the wings, Redondo and Møller led the line as the striker duo, while the Dane dropped to the #10 role in the 4-2-3-1 formation.

Eibar held a low block with 6 at the back, in a 6-3-1 for the majority of the encounter. While Las Blancas dominated every single statistic in the book, the Basque team denied them every chance. Eva Navarro took it upon herself to take the ball inside the box with herself from the right, but in the majority of the cases, she was no match for Eibar’s low block. The cleanest way to get the ball inside was by crossing in, which Olga kept attempting.

Alba Redondo had her positioning on point in this game but she didn’t wear her finishing boots in the game as there were numerous chances in which she was either unbelievably unlucky or María Miralles’s perfect reflexes denied her. In the second half, Real Madrid had 2 double chances in which Redondo was involved both times and Miralles made 2 double saves which gave her the well-deserved MVP award.

There were a few more factors as to what went wrong in this game. The first, obvious one is Lakrar’s injury during the tackle that led to the goal. The French defender was taken off the pitch for Méndez in the last 15 minutes of the first half. Later on, in the second half, Olga was escorted out limping, and subbed off for Weir after which Las Blancas switched to a back 3. While Real Madrid lost patience, there were also a lot of overloads happening on both sides, including a few injury scares.

  • 28’: GOAL (0-1) by Andrea Álvarez: Lakrar lost the tackle in the midfield against Álvarez after which the attacker saw the open goal while Chavas was out of position and capitalized on it.

This was the second loss in the league this season thanks to the skill and patience of Eibar’s defense. Even with this loss, Las Blancas aren’t in danger of losing the 2nd place on the table.
