Real Madrid star Fede Valverde talked in an interview with France Football where he shared his thoughts on his own playing style and his career as a madridista so far. Valverde was asked about his work rate and his ability to cover a lot of ground while the attacker don’t track back, and he helped his teammates.
“There are players who don’t need to defend. Personally, I don’t mind running for our attackers, so they can take advantage of it. It’s fine for them to help us from time to time, but the same happens with the defenders: no one expects them to attack for ninety minutes,” he explains.
Valverde was also asked about playing alongside legendary midfielders like Toni Kroos, Casemiro or Luka Modric.
“Playing with them helps you mature faster, you improve faster. They helped me a lot. I would’ve given Kroos a Ballon D’Or award. He has generational skills technically and tactically as well,” he said.
Real Madrid have not performed at the level they were expected to perform so far this season, and Valverde tried to explain why that’s been happening.
“We are the best team in the world. We have to maintain this hunger. We also need to take care of the first halves. Sometimes we enter the field too relaxed,” he concluded.
