Used car expert offers tip to ‘make your car stand out’ from others

The car buying service Sell My Car Online has offered an unconventional tip that can help drivers get more money when selling their vehicle.

Whilst the used car market is currently very strong, the average price of a second hand vehicle is falling, with an oversupply of certain models.

According to Todd Bialaszewski, Founder of Sell My Car Online, one way in which sellers may be able to gain more money and attention for their used car is by creating a QR code.

He advised: “Selling your car is a task which can be a complicated process. Millions of vehicles are sold each year, meaning there’s a lot of competition out there for sellers.

“Luckily, this tip is one which is going to make your car stand out and maximise its value and get you the best deal. All you need to do is to make sure that you include all the relevant information and make it as easy as possible for the buyer to fall in love with your vehicle.”

Many websites and apps allow users to generate a QR code that, when scanned, can take buyers to another page that features a wide range of information.

This code can be added to the vehicle listing as an image or printed out and put in the window of a vehicle for passers-by to scan.

Sell My Car Online highlighted that making a QR code to use when selling a used car can help them to provide more information, photos and videos to give buyers a better idea of what the vehicle is like.

Another way in which motorists are able to get a good price for their used car is giving it a deep clean throughout before they take any photos.

This includes a full wash of the exterior, helping to give the paintwork a glass-like shine, vacuum the interior and remove any dirt or dust from under the bonnet.

Motorists may wish to do this themselves or pay for a professional car detailer to clean it, with many experts suggesting that it is a worthwhile investment.

Finally, Sell My Car Online also recommended that motorists selling a car have all of its service history ready for any potential buyers to see.

Vehicles with a full service history generally fetch much higher sums of money as drivers are able to see if previous owners have treated the model with care, following the manufacturer’s recommended service intervals.

What’s more, a good service history is also able to tell used car buyers if the vehicle has ever been in an accident and, if so, if it was repaired by a reputable garage.
