Real Madrid now want to extend Mendy’s contract -report

French left-back Ferland Mendy has impressed at Real Madrid this season, prompting the club to offer him a contract extension, according to a report in Marca on Sunday. Mendy’s current deal expires in 2025, and Real Madrid are keen to avoid losing him on a free transfer after his resurgence.

Mendy’s previous seasons were hampered by injuries, but he’s enjoyed a clean bill of health this year. More importantly, he’s shown significant improvement defensively, solidifying his position as a regular starter.

While negotiations are ongoing, Mendy has reportedly expressed his desire to remain in Madrid even after receiving interest from clubs in the Premier League and also Saudi Arabia in years past.

However, Real Madrid’s continued interest in Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies presents a potential complication. Should Mendy extend his contract, Los Blancos would likely need to find new clubs for young left-backs Fran Garcia and Miguel Gutierrez.
