Linda Caicedo has been recognised as the 2023 Golden Girl winner on Monday 4th December 2023. The award usually given to the best young player in the world for a particular year.
Caicedo who signed for Real Madrid in January 2023 had a brilliant season scoring 4 goals and recording 7 assists in 15 matches across the league and cup games last season. She was also in the 90th percentile in passing accuracy and log ball accuracy in the league. She quickly established herself as one of the most important players alongside Caroline Weir.
It was in the Women’s World Cup 2023 where she really shone for Colombia scoring 2 goals including a stunner against Germany and provided an assist in the quarterfinal loss to England helping las Cafeteras record their best ever finish at the w cup.
She has started the 2024/2025 season well scoring once and providing four assists with the only negative being the injury she sustained in the clasico loss which will keep her out until the New Years.
With Weir’s absence expect her to rack up more goals and assist and provide more wonderful and entertaining performances in 2024.
