Lantern-making business booms in small north China village

As the Chinese New Year approaches, lanterns in the zodiac image of the Loong, or Chinese Dragon, have seen a rising demand across the country. Workers are busy making Year of the Dragon lanterns in Hengqu Village in the suburbs of Taiyuan, north China’s Shanxi Province. A factory head says business orders have surged since early January. The village has a four-decade history of making lanterns and is known locally as the “lantern village.”
