Drivers urged to avoid ‘major safety hazard’ that could damage vehicle

The vehicle parking spot booking service YourParkingSpace has shared the most frustrating elements of motoring for most drivers.

Whilst many enjoy spending time behind the wheel, there are many factors that make using a car a frustrating and, in some cases, dangerous experience.

Brannan Coady, CEO of YourParkingSpace, highlighted that most motorists find the number of potholes on the road the most frustrating part of driving their car.

He explained: “The likes of speeding, middle lane hogging and tailgating are not uncommon experiences on Britain’s roads, so for potholes to be ranked top of our list shows just how big of a problem poor road condition has become.

“As well as being an annoyance, potholes are also a major safety hazard. Our roads deserve better maintenance to ensure the safety and satisfaction of drivers.”

According to YourParkingSpace, 69 percent of the 2,000 Brits surveyed admitted to feeling frustrated by the state of the roads.

Whilst 1.4 million potholes were filled in during the financial year of 2022 to 2023, there are still many across the road network that need to be fixed, with many more forming due to wet weather.

In addition to being uncomfortable to ride over, hitting potholes at speed can cause all manner of damage to the tyres, wheels and suspension of vehicles.

Many other frustrations shared by motorists involve the rising cost of staying on the road, with nearly half of those taking part in the study stating their anger at the rising cost of insurance.

According to Compare the Market, UK drivers currently pay an average of £1,673 per year for car insurance, with younger motorists typically shelling out over £3,000.

Annoying driving habits also featured throughout the study, with people forgetting to indicate at junctions and roundabouts being the most annoying custom typically seen behind the wheel.
