Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos wants to leave the club this summer, according to a report published today on The Athletic. Ceballos signed a contract extension with the club just a year ago but failed to make a big impact during the 2023-24 season, so he’s now interested in playing more minutes elsewhere.
However, selling Ceballos will not be easy. Not many clubs in La Liga can afford to match or even come close to his current salary and Real Madrid will not give him away, per that same report.
Ceballos could have a bigger role in the squad next year if he ends up staying, though. Kroos’ retirement means that coach Carlo Ancelotti might need to use Ceballos in games where he values a possession-oriented style, so Ceballos could end up staying and playing more minutes than he did in this previous season unless another club is willing to make a significant effort to sign him away from Madrid.
